Business Office
The Business Office staff provides billing and payment services for those students (and dependents), staff and faculty which use the Health Center.
Payment for Services:
For all services, patients are required to check-out with a cashier on the second floor. Payment-in-full is expected at the time of service. For their convenience, patients may use a number of options to make payment: cash, check, debit card, VISA, MasterCard, and Discover. If currently enrolled, IU students may transfer their charges to their Bursar account.
Insurance Reimbursement:
With the exception of pharmacy payers, the Health Center does not submit claims to insurers. Patients will receive a walk-out statement from the cashiers which serves as both their receipt and their insurance claim documentation. In most cases, the walk-out statement can be submitted by you to your insurer for reimbursement. However, to help contain costs, the Health Center will not bill your (or your parents) insurance company. Patients will be required to pay the Health Center at the time of their visit and then submit the claim to their insurer. In the event of a disputed claim, the Business Office (located on the first floor) will assist in clarifying or reviewing Health Center charges and to provide any additional information needed for reimbursement.
Release of Financial & Health Information:
The Business Office plays an important part in maintaining patient confidentiality. To comply with Federal and Indiana State law, the Health Center is prohibited from releasing any of your financial or health records relating to a visit without the patient's signed authorization, including parents. Therefore, if you are a parent and you want a copy of your student's walk-out statement, you will first need them to provide a
written authorization Patients can pick up additional copies of their walk out statements from the Business Office when proper identification is presented.
