The Health Center provides comprehensive health services to meet the medical and psychological needs of students, spouses and dependents (12 years and older). Included are full service appointment or walk-in medical clinic, pharmacy, lab tests, x-rays, physical examinations, eye clinic, gyn services, allergy shots, physical therapy and Counseling & Psychological Services (CAPS). Health and Wellness Education sponsors programs on a variety of health related topics and maintains a resource center.

What is the health fee?                                                                                      top

Students enrolling in more than three on-campus credit hours are assessed the health fee each Fall & Spring semester on the Bursar's bill. The Summer health fee is assessed to students enrolled in six or more credit hours. The health fee benefits remain the same for each semester. The health fee provides reduced charges for routine medical clinic visits, (see exclusions), up to two free visits (excluding psychiatry) to Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS), and general educational programming provided by Health and Wellness Education.

Women's health appointments pre-scheduled with certified GYN Advanced Practice Nurses and Physician Assistant practitioners will have the office visit charge waived. Usual charges will be assessed for lab tests, procedures and prescriptions.

All physical exams (routine), special procedures (suturing, wart removal, casting, colposcopy, allergy shots, etc.), x-rays, laboratory, physical therapy, pharmacy, and psychological counseling (in excess of two visits) are additional charges.

Students enrolled in three or fewer credit hours plus spouses and their dependents are assessed charges comparable to those in the local community for all services. Student spouses and dependents must pay at the time of service.

Everyone must check-out with the cashier located on the second floor at the completion of each visit. Payment is appreciated at the time of the visit. A visit reconstruction charge will be assessed to those who fail to check out. Payment may be made by cash, check, debit card, MasterCard, Discover Card or Visa, or charges may be directly transferred to the Bursar's Office. Any unpaid charges will be automatically transferred to the Bursar's Office within 30 days.

What is the billing procedure?                                                                         top

The Health Center provides services to Indiana University students from all over the world.  Because of the large number of insurance companies involved in such a large, diverse group of students, the Health Center has chosen to participant in only one program:  Aetna Student Health.

If a student does not participate in this program, then the itemized statement, provided by the cashier, can be submitted for insurance reimbursement. For counseling and psychological charges, talk with your provider. The pharmacy accepts many prescription cards. Verification of your carrier can be obtained by calling the pharmacy at (812) 855-3865.
