About Physical Therapy
Physical therapy consists of the evaluation and treatment of injuries and disease with the goals of pain relief, restoration of function and the return to your fullest level of activity in school, work, recreation and sports. The initial evaluation examines your posture, biomechanics, ROM (Range Of Motion) and flexibility, strength and balance. The treatment is based on this evaluation and includes an individualized program of progressive exercises and activities, in conjunction with the use of physical modalities as needed.

What is Included in Physical Therapy Exercise Programs?
Therapeutic exercise programs are tailored to each individual's needs and may include exercises to correct faulty posture and biomechanics and improve flexibility, strength, balance and endurance. These programs can be carried out in physical therapy with supervision, and independently at homes, SRSC, HPER. Also included is the modification of activity relating to ergonomics, ie: at work-study-computer stations, and with music performance.
About our Staff:
Our staff consists of licensed physical therapists with Bachelor or Masters degrees in Physical Therapy. Through accredited continuing education our skills and knowledge are kept updated to provide the best progressive care.
Who may use the Service?
Physical Therapy is available to all students including SAA, Fellowship, and International students along with their spouses and dependents over the age of 12.
To Access Physical Therapy:
A written prescription for physical therapy is required in the state of Indiana. Physicians, adult nurse practitioners,PAs, podiatrists, dentists, osteopaths, and chiropractors often refer their patients for physical therapy. We accept physical therapy prescriptions from health care providers throughout the US.
If you have questions about physical therapy or need to schedule an appointment, please call us at (812) 855-6272. Patients are seen by individual appointments and need to be scheduled through the physical therapy department.
Is there a Fee for Physical Therapy services?
Fees are assessed for each physical therapy visit and are based on the services rendered. You will receive an itemized statement for submission to your insurance company. Students who have paid the Health Fee receive a reduced charge and if you are covered by the IU Mandatory Insurance as a Student Academic Appointee, Fellowship Recipient or International Student your deductible is waived and you have full coverage of the Usual and Customary charges.

The department is located on the third floor, in room 338 of the IU Health Center at 10th and Jordan.

Physical Therapy is open from 8:00 AM to noon and 1:00 PM to 4:30 PM Monday through Friday.
