Physical Therapy consists of the evaluation of musculoskeletal conditions with the goals of pain relief, restoration of function, and return to your fullest level of activity in school, work, recreation and sports.
The initial Evaluation includes a history of your injury and how it affects your daily activities. A physical examination will be completed to determine the problems that need addressed and an individual plan of care will be established.
Treatment may include:
- Hot Packs/Cold Packs
- Manual Therapy (including Graston technique)
- Electrical Stimulation
- Muscular biofeedback
- Supervised exercises in the clinic
- Instruction in Home Exercise Program
- Education about ergonomics of work, study and music performance that may help avoid repetitive stress injuries
- Education on your condition and self-management techniques
The IU Health Center requires a prescription to begin therapy. We accept orders from physicans, podiatrists, nurse practioners, physician assistants, chiropractors, or dentists. Orders are valid for up to 60 days of date they were written.
