Biography

For nearly 30 years, Kathryn has worked as a Health & Sexuality Educator in Health & Wellness Education at the IU Health Center. Her areas of expertise include contraception; sexually transmitted infections, including HIV/AIDS; abortion; well person care; sexual orientation/homophobia; transgender issues and sexual development. She has presented these topics at multiple schools across the Bloomington campus and in primary and secondary schools throughout Bloomington. Together with Doug Bauder from the GLBT Student Support Services office, she has conducted workshops and trainings to other universities around the state. In her capacity as a volunteer, Kathryn has served on the boards of Planned Parenthood, PFLAG (Parents, Families and Friends of Lesbians and Gays) Friends of the Kinsey Institute, IU’s Theatre Circle, United Way and League of Women Voters. She has also worked with the Girl Scouts Family Life Education Program as well as being a presenter at the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors, and Therapists National Conference.
