Where to go for care
When to call or text 911
If you or someone else is having a medical emergency, call 911 right away. If you are under age and under the influence, Indiana’s Lifeline Law assures that you will not be prosecuted if you report a crime or request emergency medical assistance.
IU Student Health Center
Best for: Routine medical care, preventive care, mental health services, and non-emergency illnesses or injuries.
The Student Health Center is your first stop for most healthcare needs during business hours. Our team provides comprehensive medical and mental health services designed specifically for IU students.
- Location: 600 N. Eagleson Ave. (corner of 10th & Eagleson)
- Hours: Mon–Fri, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., select Saturdays available for virtual visits.
- Appointments: Call 812-855-7688 or schedule online.
- Services: Primary care, immunizations, counseling, psychiatry, pharmacy (with residence hall delivery), lab, X-ray, acute eye care, physical therapy, and gender-affirming care.
- After-Hours Nurse Line: Call 812-855-4011, option 5 with your questions when the Student Health Center is closed.
Urgent care
Best for: Minor injuries or illnesses when the SHC is closed (evenings and weekends), such as sprains, minor cuts needing stitches, or persistent fevers.

- CAPS (Counseling and Psychological Services): Located on the 4th floor of the Student Health Center. CAPS provides counseling, psychiatric services, crisis support, and referrals for IU students

- Survivor Counseling Services: Confidential, 24/7 support for students affected by sexual violence. Call 812-855-8900.

- Sharps Disposal: To obtain a puncture-resistant sharps container for proper disposal of needles, please contact housing@iu.edu to begin the process to obtain your container.
IU Health is not the Student Health Center
Indiana University’s Student Health Center is not affiliated with Indiana University Health (IU Health), its hospitals, its urgent care clinics, or its physicians.
The health fee you pay as an IU Bloomington student will not cover treatment you receive through any IU Health facility.
