About Christi
Christi grew up in Bloomington and lived in several other states before settling back home again in Indiana. Christi has worked in the mental health field for over a decade and is passionate about helping people to live their best lives. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Macalester College and her Masters of Science in Social Work from the University of Louisville.
Christi has worked in outpatient, residential and hospital settings, supporting children and adults with mental illnesses, addictions and past or recent traumas. Christi is currently one of the SACS counselors, working with survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault and intimate partner violence. Christi is particularly passionate about working with marginalized groups including members of the TSLGBTQIA+ community, graduates of the foster care system, and domestic and international students adjusting to life at a PWI. Christi works with the Gender Affirming Care Team at the Health Center, supporting transgender, non-binary and gender non-conforming students to affirm their identities and support any transition that feels right for them. Christi also enjoys helping individuals understand how religion and spirituality intersect with their individual identities. She integrates several treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Mindfulness, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing.
In her free time, Christi spends time with her partner and their three children, reading, painting and building Lego. Christi’s favorite coping skill is cooking for her family and she enjoys learning about the history and cultures surrounding food across the globe.
