New Patients

Welcome, new Hoosier!

We’re so glad you’ve chosen Indiana University. During your time here, we want you to think of us as your health care provider. You’ll get quality medical, mental health, and wellness care at reasonable prices—without even having to leave campus.

The Student Health Center is a one-stop shop for all of your health care needs. From checkups to X-rays, from flu shots to filling prescriptions, you can do it all here.

The IU Student Health Center provides high-quality medical, mental health, and wellness services all in the heart of campus. It is a one-stop shop for all your health care needs and specializes in treating college-aged patients. Learn more about our services and how to access them.

Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS)

CAPS services are provided at no charge to all IU students who have paid the student health fee.

Your first contact with CAPS will be a 45-minute initial consultation appointment. To schedule, call 812-855-5711. You can request immediate help during business hours by coming to the fourth floor and asking for emergency service.

After hours and emergencies

Have a problem when we’re not open? If it’s an emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital. Otherwise, we can still help you.

Health documentation for incoming students

For everyone

As an IU student, you’re required to have certain immunizations. Find out what they are and how to prove you’re compliant. Learn about immunizations.

If you’re under 18

We need to have your parent or guardian’s permission to treat you at the Health Center. Make sure they fill out the online Consent for Medical Treatment of a Minor form.

If you have a chronic illness

If you currently see a specialist, it is important for your current specialist to refer you to a local specialist in the Bloomington or Indianapolis area. If you need a Student Health Care primary care provider to bridge your treatment until you can see the local specialist, have your current health care specialist fax a referral with your most recent office notes, medication lists, diagnostic reports, and lab results for the past 6 months to us at 812-855-4245. Once we receive your records our providers will review them and you will be contacted with next steps. This will help ensure that you get the care you need while you’re at IU.

IU Health is not the Student Health Center

Indiana University’s Student Health Center is not affiliated with Indiana University Health (IU Health), its hospitals, its urgent care clinics, or its physicians.

The health fee you pay as an IU Bloomington student will not cover treatment you receive through any IU Health facility.
