CAPS is pleased to provide internship training for students pusuing their Master's in Counseling.
CAPS accepts a limited number of students in training each year. Due to high demand, the CAPS Master’s Internship is available only to students who are enrolled in at least their second year of an accredited Master’s of Counseling program and who have completed at least one previous internship.
Due to dual role conflicts, anyone who has accessed IU Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) services, beyond an initial consultation/case management appointment, is not eligible for an internship at IU CAPS.
The internship is structured to meet the guidelines of the M.S.Ed in Mental Health Counseling and Counselor Education program at Indiana University. The practicum is approximately 16 weeks each semester and follows the IU academic schedule. Students are expected to be on site 20 hours each week in addition to any supervision provided by their home departments.
Approximately two weeks before the fall semester begins, internship students participate in a series of orientation activities.

Counseling and Psychological Services staff reserve the right to communicate with internship clinicians’ academic departments regarding their performance at any time. Generally, this communication is limited to end-of-semester evaluations forwarded to the department. In the event of unprofessional conduct, CAPS staff may contact the department as it seems prudent.
