About Conner
Conner was raised in a small rural town in southern Indiana, where he spent his entire childhood. He later attended the University of Southern Indiana, earning a Bachelor of Social Work with a minor in Psychology. During his undergraduate years, Conner was deeply involved in campus life, actively contributing to the university community.
Conner attended Indiana University, Bloomington to earn a Master of Social Work with a concentration on Mental Health and Addiction. He was a practicum student for Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) during his graduate program. Conner was the first Victim Advocate and Social Worker at the Indiana University Police Department before returning to CAPS.
As a CAPS counselor, Conner has been focusing on increasing opportunities for services. He has been developing educational Mindfulness opportunities that involve using nature as a coping skill. These include the Go Touch Grass and Mindfulness in the Meadows projects.
Conner's approach to counseling is focused on Systems Theory; Empowerment Theory; Solution-Focused, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy; and Strengths Perspective. He loves and believes these are some of the best perspectives for working with college students. Outside of work, he enjoys spending quality time with his spouse and dog, and exploring the outdoors through mountain biking.
